Agriculture plays an important role within Morocco and around 40% of the work force is employed in this sector. This is partly the result of a mild climate - certainly by African standards - and the possibility to irrigate large areas, giving Morocco very fertile soil. An increase in the production of farm crops has taken place in recent years. Important export products for the country are citrus, vegetables and fish.
