After a turbulent political past, South Africa has undergone considerable development in recent years, with a significant growth in production. In addition to raw materials, agricultural products make up a large percentage of exports. The country is an important global player in the supply of fruit.

With products like oranges, grapefruit, lemons, mandarins, apples, pears, grapes, stone fruit and pomegranates, South Africa is an important country of origin for Total Produce B.V. The production areas for the various products are spread across the entire country.

Since the opening up of the market in 1997, major changes have taken place in the distribution of South African fruit.
