After a turbulent political past, South Africa has undergone considerable development in recent years, with a significant growth in production. In addition to raw materials, agricultural products make up a large percentage of exports. The country is an important global player in the supply of fruit.

With products like oranges, grapefruit, lemons, mandarins, apples, pears, grapes, stone fruit and pomegranates, South Africa is an important country of origin for Total Produce B.V. The production areas for the various products are spread across the entire country.

Since the opening up of the market in 1997, major changes have taken place in the distribution of South African fruit.

After a number of hectic years with numerous players, only a few major parties have succeeded in positioning themselves in the market. A desire to achieve greater distinctiveness has contributed significantly to the quality and reputation of South African products. The country has grown to become the most important exporter of fruits within Europe.

Thanks to a high level of involvement and transparency, Total Produce B.V. has further strengthened its relationship with various growers through the years, enabling it to capture a strong position within the European market.
