Starting in January 2014, most of the punnets of red and white seedless grapes will be packed in the Netherlands in 500g baskets.
The reason for this is that Total Produce is convinced it will contribute to improved quality and flexibility. This concept has been tested in recent years and will be rolled out commercially next season.
"Packing in the Netherlands enables us to pack the products according to specific customer preferences. It also allows us to reduce the risk of rejection considerably, since we pack and quality check all punnets personally before shipping," says Saskia Polak, Product and Account Manager at Total Produce. "It is important that we can also pack the grapes under private label and meet any additional buyer preferences," she adds.
