In terms of surface area, China is the third largest country in the world, but has the world’s largest population, at 1.3 billion. The country is undergoing tremendous development in some regions and is the largest agricultural producer in the world. In addition to the export of agricultural products, labour-intensive products are also important for the country’s export market.

China has an enormous climatological diversity. Total Produce B.V. works together with growers in the various regions. For years, the company has been importing products like garlic, ginger, pomelos, apples and Nashi from China. Suppliers and production areas are selected where the climatological conditions best meet the growing needs of the product concerned.

Trade between China and the West has continued to develop after the market was thrown open and Total Produce B.V. was one of the first Western companies active in the country. Intensive collaboration with suppliers has helped Total Produce B.V. and its supplier raise both the product and production to a higher level. As a result, Chinese products meet the high European standards and requirements.
