Stone fruit is a collective term for various types of fruit with a hard stone in the centre. This includes cherries, peaches, nectarines, apricots and plums. Stone fruit is grown around the world, but is mostly a ‘summer product’ in Europe. But consumption during the contra-season - our winter - has increased in recent years. Considerable investments have been made over the past few years in the production of tasteful varieties that can handle a 2-3 week journey. This ‘treats’ European consumers to a tasteful ripe product during the wintertime as well.
Total Produce B.V. imports its stone fruit primarily from Argentina, Chile and South Africa and supplies its buyers with a complete range from mid-December to mid-April. The various types available include large numbers of varieties that follow one another rapidly. The knowledge and experience with stone fruit that Total Produce B.V. has acquired in recent years enables us to effectively advise our buyers regarding the right varieties at the right time. We also offer various packaging options that can be custom developed in consultation with the buyer.
